My Journey to Solo [Surakarta] - Kafe MARKOBAR (Martabak Kota Barat)

Kafe MARKOBAR
Kota Barat, Solo - Surakarta

Hello guys, long time no see! I've been busy again for the past 2 weeks because of an event (Birfest / Binus International Relations Festival 2015) and preparing myself for midterm examination. To pay off your wait, I want to post another travel place recommendation.

Todays recommended place by me named Kafe MARKOBAR (Martabak Kota Barat). But before we continue our journey, What is Martabak?

Via Wikipedia :
Murtabak or martabak, also mutabbaq (Arabic: مطبق‎) (Thai: มะตะบะ), is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread which is commonly found in Saudi Arabia (especially the Tihamah and the Hejaz regions), Yemen, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Thailand. Depending on the location, the name and ingredients can significantly vary. The name mutabbaq (or sometimes mutabbag) in Arabic means "folded". In Indonesia, the Murtabak is one of the most popular street foods and is known as "martabak".

In Indonesia, there is a trend in making martabak combined with so many different flavors. For example : Martabak Red Velvet, Martabak Green Tea, etc. MARKOBAR is selling and serving us so many great quality and nice flavored Martabak(s).

In Jakarta, you can find so many martabak kedai / small martabak stores almost everywhere. But the price range is pretty nuts and expensive for only a pan of martabak. In Solo, it's way cheaper and way more affordable compare to the ones in Jakarta (with the same flavor).

The most interesting thing, this place is owned by Gibran (the first son from The President of Indonesia, Jokowi / Joko Widodo). The customer targets are pretty much teenagers and youth people. The interior and exterior of this place are so instagram-able.

Don't you want to try to visit this place?

I am also waiting until the episode coming up online or on television (i don't even know). Featured moments are really precious for me, because those moments are great for completing my blog portfolio. This year, I clearly watched so many shows. The most special shows were Patrick Owen's "JALANAN" and Soulpot Studio's from South Korea. Korean Cultural Center gave me an access, thank you so much! I clearly proud to be a korean language student at KCC.
